The west coast is a place of special beauty. It requires planning, patience, and respect.
It can be calm and tranquil one moment and stormy the next. Mountain peaks vanish and appear with the change of clouds; you can get sunburnt in the morning but need a wood fire in the evening. Where rain is measured in metres and the locals play football on gravel. Prepare to immerse yourself in the wild West Coast for an unforgettable adventure.
The mountain biking here includes the backcountry ridgeline riding on offer on Mt Owen, with descents from 985m, and Silver City (Zeehan), with 728m of descent. Both are unique places with panoramic views from various vantage points, allowing you to see where you’ve been and where you’re going.
We recommend a competent level of riding to fully enjoy this tour. The tour includes both Mt Owen and Silver City networks with blue & black trail descents only.

Here are a few things to help you prepare and pack for your adventure with Into The Wild. From the moment you jump in the aircraft or vehcile, we want you to think less and experience more; taking in the wonder that is Tasmania.
Our tours feel more like catching up with old friends you haven’t seen in years and being shown their home. We simply love showing people our backyard, and it shows in everything we do. Our vehicles are completely tailored to our needs, with USB charging ports, a fridge, drinking water, mountain bike tools and spares, lots of storage, snacks, and good tunes.
All bikes are stored in our lockable and enclosed trailer or secured safely on any one of our custom bike racks or shuttle trailers.
What to wear on Day 1:
Please be dressed ready to ride, carrying a small day pack with the essentials. We would have collected your bike, luggage and extra gear the day before so we can be ready and waiting for your arrival at Mt Owen. You'll make your way to Hobart International Airport, where you'll meet with the team at Rotorlift, before embarking on your epic 60 minute scenic flight from Hobart to the West Coast of Tasmania.
If you forget something, don't worry. Our home for the next couple of nights, Queenstown, has all the essentials you'll need to make your stay comfortable.
What to pack?
We recommend packing light but with enough clothing for riding and non-riding times each day. Tasmanian weather is unpredictable, so pack for any weather conditions. Here’s a guide to what we recommend you bring, along with what we provide on your tour with us.
